International Experience Canada (IEC) gives Canadians aged 18–35 the opportunity to live, work, and travel in more than 35 countries and territories. With a work permit lasting up to two years, you can gain international experience, earn while you explore, and create unforgettable memories — even if you don’t have prior job experience.

To participate in the Work and Travel Program abroad, you must meet the general requirements listed below:
- Be a Canadian citizen with a valid Canadian passport valid for the duration of your stay abroad
- Be between 18 and 35 years old (or 18 to 30 for some countries)
- Have no criminal record
- Be able to show proof of sufficient funds (usually around CAD $2,500)
- Have sufficient travel and health insurance for the entire stay
